Preface
In an age, when life is bound to become more complicated with rising target, increasing expectation, cut throat competition and soaring ambition, only we can seek resort to ‘Full fledged control over mind’ for balancing ‘work’ and ‘self’. With the increasing number of cases, related to agony-anxiety-depression-hypertension-diabetes-insomnia and even to suicidal tendencies, at every cross section of the society, ‘Ujjivan’ is working to lend them feasible and tangible support.
Degree of the Danger
How acute the problem is? In a recent survey in United States it has shown that 1 in 5 adults -43.5 million people, experience mental illness in a given year. Scientists have shown that 85 to 90% diseases are mainly psychosomatic in nature. WHO says mental illness begins at the tender age of 14. Forget data, look at the newspapers, from students to corporate honchos, young professionals to movie stars, house wives to senior citizens, a considerable portion of them are suffering either from depression, anxiety related disorder, personality crisis, memory loss or related ailments like blood-pressure, diabetes, arthritis, cholesterol or insomnia. Ultimately they are resorting to popular medicines and while getting addicted to those medicines, they are only increasing the problem in many folds.
The Alternates
Its now crystal clear that, to achieve a control over the ‘Lifestyle Diseases’, we have to change our Life Style itself by having more and more control over our mind through body and by some routine practices. If we have already acquired some dis-eases, we have to depend on alternative and natural remedies to reduce the addiction of pills and tonics. The solutions were there for thousands of years in front of us. The Yogasutra of the great saint Patanjali has dealt with body-mind and beyond, Upanishada has narrated about our true ‘self’ by calling the human being as the son of eternal bliss (Srinwantu Biswe Amritasya Putrah) and Vedanta has given a call for knowledge, which is the only saviour. ‘Ujjivan’ found these high teachings and treatments should be brought back in its truest nature, for the people of every section of our society.
